The application and screening process is comprised of several steps which will include a criminal reference check, references and a detailed home study. It involves meetings with the family members, home visits and completion of documentation. Application through to being matched with an individual is generally quite a lengthy process, as it is important to ensure there is a good match between the individual and the prospective family who will provide support. Once a potential match is made, visits and stays are arranged, increasing in length of time and frequency, to ensure that the match is a good fit.

Sometimes, if a match is not made immediately, there may be an opportunity for an approved Family to provide in-home short term respite for an individual already established in a FamilyHome.

Please contact the agency in your area for more specific information on their application process.
